Many people called Fiji one of the world’s best kept secrets after they visited this picture perfect island in the magnificent Pacific Ocean.
My Fijian tour guide proclaimed, “The natural wonders of our 333 islands are all beautiful, but each one quite different from each other. Its sandy beaches and abundant coral reefs are equally gorgeous.” Of course I loved the endless stunning scenery of the Fiji Island, but what made Fiji unforgettable for me are the amazing sunrise and the romance of a Fijian sunset.
iji’s sunsets are every bit as spectacular as its beaches and reefs. To watch an elaborate sunset – one of nature’s extraordinary light shows – in Fijian paradise is an experience most people are likely to talk about and share the amazing images with family and friends. I saw calm waters stretching to the horizon, brilliant rays of light extending from darkening clouds. The jagged silhouette of the faraway mountains was looming above sugarcane fields. I will always remember the exquisite sunset I saw on the Island of Fiji.
Surfers are stoked with the new boards designed and built in Fiji for its world-class waves. The beaches are for locals and tourists alike. Their aim is to help everyone unwind and indulge in an enchanted day to a backdrop of shimmering blue waters.
It was great to take a journey into Fiji’s past and witness an ancient firewalking ceremony and cultural dances. The exciting cultural tour has firewalkers displaying mysterious powers over fire. As elders chant, young men remove burning logs from a smoking pit to reveal the white-hot stones signaling the start of this ancient ceremony. An entertaining cultural performance of special songs and dances interprets the intriguing history and colorful legends of Fiji.
I was thankful that our tour guide took us on a picturesque coastal ride in a restored sugarcane train for a different Fijian experience. This scenic ride in an old diesel locomotive along the Coral Coast Railway Co. runs two tours three days a week. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful.
I found out that air conditioning, seat belts, and cushion on seats are not available on any of the public transportation here. However, these minor inconveniences just added a sense of adventure to my trip to the island of Fiji.
uva is the capital city of Fiji. The Viseisei Village is the legendary landing site of the first Fijians. It was wonderful to make a stop in the bustling commercial district of Suva to experience the modern style of Fiji living.
he Garden of the Sleeping Giant on the Fiji Island was started by famed Hollywood actor Raymond Burr. It now houses one of the largest and most varied orchid collections in the world. This luscious garden just adds to the picture perfect image of the lovely Island of Fiji.
