Just across the Auckland Harbour Bridge, the North Shore is a captivating combination of the scenic and the stylish, where golden-sand beaches and native bush sit alongside thriving shopping centers and dining districts.
With the Hauraki Gulf stretching to the horizon, the eastern bays are a magnet for surfers and kayakers. Although this area’s superb food and wine made my mouth watering, I was able to find a perfect picnic spot along the magnificent coast. Later in the afternoon, I also discovered the rural charm near the Auckland region’s largest native forest.
The majestic Mt. Cook is New Zealand’s most famous national park. To enjoy the Alpine paradise of Mt. Cook was really a larger-than-life experience. It was amazing to take a nature walk and simply meditate on the beauty of the Southern Alps.
The tranquil atmosphere and the rugged grandeur of the Hollyford Valley led the way toward Milford Sound. Through ancient beech forest via the Homer Tunnel, visitors may grasp the deeper understanding about the reason why the stunningly exquisite Milford Sound is one of the most visited sights on the South Island. The rock faces that rise nearly 4,000 feet on either side formed the majestic highlight of the breathtaking scenery. The vast landscapes and the quiet atmosphere of the area help visitors access the history and culture of the people.
The historic city of Christchurch was devastated by an earthquake in 2011. Visitors can see firsthand how the city known as “the Garden City” is recreating itself. It was fantastic to leisurely meander through the city’s beautiful gardens.
Queenstown offers limitless diversions set amidst breathtaking Alpine scenery. During a comprehensive tour of the delightful Queenstown, its countryside showcased many of the spots where “The Lord of the Rings” movies were filmed.
The New Zealand International Film Festival is a national event extending the cinematic options of audiences and filmmakers throughout New Zealand.
It is worth the time to take a road trip to one of the many hidden gems of New Zealand. It was easy to find a place of stunning natural beauty and soak in the amazing views from some hilltops.
As I strolled back to my hotel, I felt lifted up by the experience and happy to have embarked on this amazing journey to the beautiful country of New Zealand.
As I traveled to more places around the world, I feel that each place has an “ambiance,” captured as much by the abstract play of its natural beauty and its unique culture as by the special qualities. I usually visit a new place with the understanding that what I see with my own two eyes is a partial revelation and the perpetuation of the existing qualities of that particular place. Therefore, during my trip to New Zealand, it is my mission to make sure that the individuality of the place is found.
